Let’s Spread Some Goodness

Published on April 1, 2020 Back to blog

I hope you and your family are staying safe, healthy and positive. While being stuck at home with family has its benefits, it can also become a bit claustrophobic – and, if listening/watching the news, a bit depressing. So, today, I come to you with a bit of goodness and positivity in hopes that it lifts your sprits and gets you outside.

Over the last few weeks, the Small Army team has been working non-stop to help our clients, but also doing what we can to help the larger community. Today, I invite you to join us in these efforts with four ways to spread the goodness:

  1. The Boston 1-Step Marathon (www.boston1step.com) for BMC – While all hospitals are being challenged right now, Boston Medical Center is especially so as they work to care for a highly vulnerable population. BMC needs our support now more than ever. So, yesterday, we launched the Boston 1-Step Marathon to help BMC in their fight against COVID-19. In place of the regularly planned Boston Marathon this month, we’re simply asking people to (1) post a video of yourself taking one step (literally), (2) make a contribution to BMC via boston1step.com and (3) invite/challenge at least 3 people to do the same. Our goal is to take at least 55,374 steps together (the equivalent of a marathon) and raise at least that amount in dollars for BMC. So, please take a moment to go outside, take/share your video, make a donation and spread the word. Together we will go farther. Thank you!
  2. Brand Heart Podcast – Over the last few weeks, we’ve witnessed brands of all sizes rise up and help others in need. From footwear companies making face masks and distilleries creating sanitizer to free online classes and live-stream events. So, we created the Brand Heart Podcast to celebrate these brands and share their stories. Our first three episodes featuring Dirty Water Distillery, Eliqs and Will Dailey (musician) are now live. I encourage you to check them out and share them, in hopes that they bring a smile to your face and add some positivity to your day. Also, if you know of any brands that we should interview for the show, please share them with me so we can reach out.
  3.  Virtual coffees/drinks – Most of us are craving a bit of human contact these days (beyond our immediate family and business-related Zoom calls). So, we suggest taking the Zoom (or your preferred video tool) out of the business context and using it to connect with people about something a bit more fun and less stressful. Invite someone you haven’t seen in a while to join you for a coffee or drink. Catch up. Meet their family. And talk about something other than COVID-19.
  4. Check out John Krasinski’s SGD (Some Good News) – If you haven’t seen this, watch it now (and share it). John Krasinski launched SGD earlier this week – a news show focused only on good news. Something we can all use more of these days. In this first episode he also has a great conversation with Steve Carrel, celebrating the 15 year anniversary of The Office.

Stay healthy. Stay strong. And, most of all, stay positive!
